Dogs of War: Rhinox Thunderlord

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. It's taken forever, but the Rhinox Thunderlord is finally finished! This was one helluva model to paint and there are so many details. Since this was going to be a centerpiece for my Dogs of War I figured his base should be fairly special too so I decided on adding a little stream down the middle and hit that with water effects. There are still a few details that need to be tweaked (eyes etc) but he is definitely 90% complete. Sadly, thanks to the new FAQs, Dogs of War now have to do without Maneaters and other units from Ogre Kingdoms (Thanks GW! Not!). Comments welcome!

Dogs of War: Thunderlord WIP

Hey all, just a couple WIP pics of what I'm currently working on for the Dogs: The Rhinox Thunderlord! Comments welcome!

Dogs of War: Maneaters (complete)

Hey all, just a group shot of the completed Maneaters, ready to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and they're fresh out of gum :)

Dogs of War: The Final Maneater

Hey all, here is the third and final Maneater for my Dogs of War. This guy was also a repaint from an earlier scheme although this one required the least amount of reworking. As with the other Maneater equipped with a Cathayan Longsword I gave this guy some spiky shoulder pads (gut plates) and added some extra chainmail here and there to make him look a bit more armored. I still need to go back and touch up some areas on him but by and large he is ready for the tabletop again along with the other complete members of his unit. Comments welcome!

Some extra chainmail across his shoulder pads.

Dogs of War: Maneater Unit WIP

Hey all, just a summary of where I'm at with the Maneaters - they're 2/3 of the way done, just one more armed with a Cathayan Longsword to go. The last one shouldn't actually take too long to do as there are only a few parts I want to repaint. Look for him and pics of the finished unit soon! In the meantime enjoy a few pics of the wrecking crew :)

Dogs of War: Maneater WIP

Hey all, small update here for the Dogs of War who haven't gotten much attention lately due to all the work going into churning out Blood Angels and various other pieces for Apocalypse. This is my Maneater with a great weapon and he rolls with a unit of 2 other Maneaters armed with Cathayan Longswords. This guy gets the chariot and knight killing duties with his 4 S7 attacks. These guys are definitely a blast to paint as there is a lot of detail to work on. I greenstuffed some extra chainmal pieces on him to lend him a more 'heavy armor' look. I still need to go back and hit some more highlights on the skin as well as the purple and yellow of his clothes. I'm going with a darker overall skintone on this guy just to set him apart from the other two. This guy like the other Maneaters is a repaint from a previous scheme that I wasn't quite satisfied with. I'm liking the two finished ones now compared to what they looked like before. IIRC purple and yellow/gold are Marienburg colors, but don't hold me to that. Comments welcome!

Dogs of War: Maneater

Starting to repaint my maneaters - just wasn't satisfied with the way they turned out the first time. First up is one of my maneaters sporting a cathayan longsword. Comes complete with parrot gnoblar on the shoulders :) You might recognize the sword arm as that of the ogre tyrant. I decided to give this guy a couple of gutplates-turned-shoulder pads to bulk him up a little bit and make him look more vicious. They are supposed to be wearing heavy armor after all. There are still a few minor touchups to do (forgot the teeth) and the skinn will get a lot more attention (which reminds me I need to pickup some bronzed as well as elf flesh). Questions and comments welcome!

Avast, prepare to be Pwn3d!
