Imperial Guard: WIP Shadowsword

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Time for some more 'super' heavy metal! Here are some wip pics of my Shadowsword. It still needs a ton of detailing but it at least tabletop ready for the upcoming Lucky 13s league. I'm leaving the lascannons off of the small turrets to use as targeters, since upgrading to BS4 with this beast is a must. Comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: Leman Russ

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Time for another update to the Imperial Guard. This is just a regular Leman Russ equipped with 3 heavy bolters and a heavy stubber. It's primarily an anti-infantry setup and coupled with the battle cannon it should take of a squad each turn. This wraps up all of the initial tanks I got for the army and I'm going to turn toward painting the troops for a while before I get to some of the newer vehicle acquisitions. Comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: Leman Russ Plasma-cutioner!

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. It's time for another update to the growing Imperial Guard forces that I have. Today I would like to share my finished Leman Russ Plasma-cutioner! This tank is proving to be one of the most lethal additions to the Imperial Guard forces in 5th Edition 40K. The ability to drop 5 templates of plasma death combined with excellent armor and the ability to move 6" and still fire everything is simply awesome. This is the most expensive Russ variant but it invariably tends to pay for itself on the battlefield. Once I am finished with all of my Guard vehicles I will go back and add weathering and some other finer details. For now though, this tank is ready to liquefy all manor of traitor and xenos scum. Glory to the Emperor! Comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: Hellhammer WIP

View Comments
Hell all, Slick here. Time for some more heavy metal. This time it's a wip of the Hellhammer for my Imperial Guard forces. This one still needs a ton of detail work but it's starting to shape up nicely. I haven't had a chance to use this beast in Apocalypse yet but I think it is time to debut it for this year's Lucky 13s. Comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: WIP Armageddon Medusa

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Time for an Imperial Guard update after all of the Blood Angels stuff. I'm getting really close to finishing up another Guard tank and this is the last of my Forgeworld tanks to be finished. As with the Armageddon Basilisk, I decided to add a lot of stowage about the vehicle. I need to touch up a bunch of areas and this this one should be ready to rumble. It has already proven its worth in regular 40K and Apocalypse - that S10 template is killer! Comments welcome!

Blood Angels: WIP 2 - Whirlwind

Hello all, Slick here. The Whirlwind is nearing completion. It's really just down to the last little details and cleanup work. The camera always seems to highlight every little spot that still needs work. Comments welcome!

Blood Angels: WIP Whirlwind

View Comments
Hey all, here are some wip pics of the Whirlwind I'm working on for my Blood Angels. The pics aren't that great. I'll have to get some in daylight. The tank is more or less close to being finished, I just need to hit a lot of small areas with touchup work, especially the freehand details. I'm putting a lot of work into adding weathering details - I want this tank to look like it's been in some major action. I decided to try out the Forgeworld weathering powders for the first time with this tank and so far I'm pretty happy with the way it's working! I added some dark earth to the lower parts of the tank, although I'm going to have to give it a few more layers I think. It just doesn't look dirty enough yet. The various vents and exhausts were hit with black soot. I should have some finished pics of it up soon. Questions and comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: Hellhammer

View Comments
Hi all, another update for the Imperial Guard. This time, some wip pics of my Hellhammer. The cammo still needs to be taken to the turret and sponson turrets, the demolisher cannon needs finishing, and the heavy stubber gunner as well. Lastly, some numbering/unit markings will need to be added. Comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: Basilisk

View Comments
Hi all, another update for my Imperial Guard! This time it's a Basilisk. This tank was part of the complete re-dos from a collection I picked up earlier in the year. It was in desperate need of fixing. There are still some detail areas that need work but the main parts are essentially finished. With this beast finished there are only two more tanks left to go for this army (excluding superheavies). Comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: Leman Russ Thunderer

View Comments
Hey all, time for a small Guard update. After finishing the Destroyer, I decided to use a spare Hellhammer cannon for this chassis to convert it into the Thunderer variant, rather than buy a new kit from FW - which really would be like $60+ for a glorified demolisher cannon. I think the Hellhammer cannon looks a little bit more menacing than a plain demolisher cannon in either case. Now I have both variants for the price of one. Both the Thunderer cannon and the Laser cannon from the Destroyer are magnetized so they can be swapped out for whatever role the tank needs to fulfill. Comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: Leman Russ Destroyer

View Comments
Hey all, time for another Guard update. Here are a few pics of the completed Leman Russ Destroyer. I went back and redid the barrel for it since I didn't like the earlier attempt. This guy will be sniping enemy tanks on a battlefield soon :) Comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: Hellhammer WIP

Well it's been about 10 days since the last update, for which I apoligize (too much school stuff etc to deal with). Let's start the updates right with some WIP pics of the Helhammer I previewed a while back. I've made quite a bit of progress since this pic and should hopefully be finished with it by the end of the week. Comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: Leman Russ Destroyer (WIP)

View Comments
Hey all, time for another Guard update, this time some WIP pics of my Leman Russ Destroyer. This thing is quite the beast, sporting the equivalent of a rail gun. There are still a bunch of spots that need finishing and touching up. I'm probably going to redo the camo on the barrel as well. Comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: Vanquisher

View Comments
Hey all, what better way to ring in the new month than with some heavy armor? This is a Leman Russ Vanquisher converted by simply cutting off a regular Russ cannon and adding a spare plastic Baneblade cannon. I've still got some detailing and cleaning up work to do on it but it's ready to use in battle now. Eventually I'm gonna write up some fluff about this elite tank and its crew, perhaps a house rule special character for campaigns, apocalypse etc. Commanding this first tank in the company is Maj. D. von Baumann. I'll post up some more pics once I add some more detail work to this behemoth. Comments welcome!

Blood Angels: Devastator Squad 1

View Comments
Hey all, time for another Blood Angels update. This time it's a Devastator Squad. These guys pack the heavy weapons! For this squad I added in 2 Plasma Cannons and 2 Missile Launchers. I've got enough to field 3-4 devastator squads or to give each tactical squad a heavy weapons trooper. I normally don't bother fielding devs as I'd rather get some tanks in my list but since BA don't have to worry about having troops like these suffer from the black rage anymore (troops had to possibly move forward, kind of like animosity). I will eventually go back and give them their squad marking on their kneepads (too lazy right now) and several of them still need squad and chapter shoulderpads. Comments welcome!

40K News: New Guard Tanks Ship!

View Comments
Hey all, some 40k news here. The new Demolisher and Hellhound plastic kits have shipped and stores have had the black boxes for a while now. After seeing both of these tank kits up close and the sprues, I can definitely say they're both great updates to the old metal/plastic hybrids. Each kits also allows you to field 3 different tanks using the same chassis. The only downside is that both kits are $50. While I don't mind that for the Demolisher, it does seem to be a pretty hefty price tag for a Hellhound. $40 would be a better deal for the Hellhounds but what can you do... In either case, I'll definitely be picking up a couple of the Demolisher kits and probably just 1 Hellhound - and try to do the 3-in-1 conversion so I don't have to buy a tank for each version. What do you guys think?

Imperial Guard: Armageddon Basilisk Complete

View Comments
Hey all, another update for the Guard. Here is the completed Armageddon Pattern Basilisk. I added a bunch of the different stowage pieces I picked up from FW plus some of the bits from the IG Tank Accessory Sprue. I wanted this thing to look like it's loaded down with gear and out there in the field for a long time. Eventually I'm going to pick up one of the excellent Tamiya weathering kits and add weathering effects to all of my tanks. Comments welcome!
