News: Forgeworld Newsletter #273

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Forgeworld's latest newsletter brings us the Crassus armored transport! Built on the same chassis as the Gorgon, it doesn't have the same transport capacity but it does have 2x the guns and some pretty cool upgrades for the weapons as well. These look like they'll be a helluva lot of fun for Apoc games.

Hi there,
In this newsletter we are pleased to unveil the huge Imperial Guard Crassus Armoured Transport as well as two new decal sheets for Badab War Chapters: the noble Red Scorpions and the sinister Minotaurs. We also have details of our opening hours over the forthcoming Easter and UK May Day bank holiday weekends.

Imperial Guard Crassus Armoured Transport
Crassus Armoured TransportThe Crassus Armoured Transport is not a standard frontline Imperial Guard vehicle, but its armoured bulk and transport capacity make it extremely capable. Based upon the Macharius Heavy Tank chassis, the Crassus is powerful, reliable, and while ponderous, it can transport an entire infantry platoon of up to 31 Guardsmen, while its hull bristles with potent heavy weapons sponsons.

This immense armoured carrier is named after one of Lord Solar Macharius’ greatest generals, Borgen Crassus, who remained steadfastly loyal to the Imperium throughout the grim and bloody Macharian Heresy that followed the Lord Solar’s death.
The vehicle can be retrofitted with additional weapons to fulfil other battlefield roles as required, and thousands of these vast transports were drafted into the 6th Cadian Armoured’s ranks during the fighting on Betalis III.

The Crassus Armoured Transport is a massive full resin kit designed by Daren Parrwood, featuring a fully detailed interior, and it is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 26th April. Forge World’s Book Design team have provided these experimental rules, taken from Imperial Armour Volume 11: The Doom of Mymeara, to allow any Imperial Guard army to field this lumbering behemoth.

News: Forgeworld Newsletter #264

View Comments
Hello everyone, Slick here. The latest FW newsletter brings the release of the Malcador Infernus as well as another conversion set for Imperial Guardsmen in the form of the Cadian Hostile Environment set. If you have ever wanted to make snowtroopers, what better time than now!

"Hi There,
We have a newsletter packed with Imperial Guard releases for you this week: a brand new super heavy tank, three new detailed infantry upgrade sets and two new transfer sheets. We also have more information about our first three events of 2011, and we’re also making a few changes to the process of placing Reservation orders for the Open Day, so read on for more.

Thanks,
Ead Brown

Malcador Infernus Heavy Tank
Malcador InfernusThe venerable Malcador chassis, a precursor to the Leman Russ battle tank in the Imperial arsenal, is capable of mounting a wide range of devastating weaponry. The Malcador Infernus is one such variant, and is armed with a centre-line Inferno Cannon capable of engulfing the enemy in a storm of burning promethium. The Infernus is a powerful weapon deployed both against enemy fortifications and massed infantry.

This resin and plastic kit, designed by Phil Stutcinskas and Daren Parrwood, will be fully detailed in Imperial Armour Volume 11: The Doom of Mymeara, published later this year, but we have managed to secure these experimental rules that you can download now.

The Malcador Infernus is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing the 28th of February

Cadian Hostile Environment Conversion Sets
Cadian Extreme EnvironmentMany worlds in the vast Imperium of Man boast conditions inimical to human survival, yet are critically important due to the mineral wealth they contain or their strategic worth. Imperial forces fighting in these deadly warzones rely on hostile environment equipment to enhance their body armour and survive.

The Cadian Hostile Environment Conversion Set contains 10 resin torsos, sculpted by Stuart Williamson and Mark Bedford, for use with the plastic Cadian range of kits available from Games Workshop.

Mark and Stuart have also sculpted the Cadian Hostile Environment Plasma Squad which contains enough resin torsos to build three Special Weapon teams, and again is suitable for use with the plastic Cadian range.

The Cadian Hostile Environment conversion set and Plasma squad are available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing the 28th of February.

Imperial Guard Transfer Sheets
Imperial Guard Vehicle Transfer SheetTwo new A4 decal sheets are also available to pre-order in this Newsletter – the Imperial Guard White Vehicle Transfer Sheet and

Imperial Guard Black Vehicle Transfer Sheet. Each contain well over a thousand individual decals including regimental insignia and blazons, kill markings, vehicle names in different styles, and also feature both the Aquila and Machina Opus symbols – a plethora of different decals to truly individualise your Imperial vehicles.

Both the Imperial Guard Black Vehicle Transfer Sheet and the Imperial Guard White Vehicle Transfer Sheet are available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing the 28th of February."

Imperial Guard: Hydra Flak Conversion

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Here is a fairly inexpensive conversion to make a Hydra if Forgeworld is a bit too pricey. Checking the toy isles at Wal-Mart can yield some pretty cool finds for 40K. This was made from two cheap toy kits (an off brand GI JOE toy iirc). I snapped both turrets off and then twisted the guns off of one turret, shaved the weapons down smooth and then glued them to the other turret. Result - a working flak cannon all for about $6. I just need to setup a platform for it and it will slide ride into the back of a spare Basilisk or Manticore chassis. Pics with the finished piece coming soon.

Imperial Guard: Gorgon Project

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Here is a preview pic of the next conversion project I'm working on. I acquired a Baneblade in trade and decided to see if it would be possible to scratch build a decent Gorgon out of it. After some initial planning, I think I've got the design ideas where they need to be. I ordered a couple of quad-heavy stubber Sabre platforms from FW (my Gorgon is going to have a bit more firepower). The only part I haven't figured out yet is making the giant ramp. Not sure what to use for parts. Ideas are welcome. I'll be posting wip pics as work progresses. Comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: Vendetta Squad

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Today I have my finished Vendettas to share. These two complete my 'air force' for the Guard (for now) :)

The conversion kits were simple, easy to assemble and look the part. These two have already accounted for scores of dead Chaos marine vehicles :)

Eventually, I will need to put some detail work on the bases, for now I decided to just leave them plain.

The next addition for air-power to my Guard army will likely be a Thunderbolt for Apocalypse games.

Comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: Armored Car WIP

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here after a week off. Time to get back to the ever expanding Imperial Guard army. Today I have a couple of wip pics of an armored car I've been working on for a while. It started out with marine bike wheels but those looked too dinky so I took a set of tires from the Ork Trukk which seems to be about as good as it can be using only GW parts. I took the punisher cannon off since it was a bit too much firepower for a 'scout' vehicle and added in a hull autocannon instead as well as using a Chimera autcannon turret from Forgeworld. It still needs detailing. I used various weathering powders from Forgeworld to give it a 'in the field' look.

I still haven't decided on what to name it yet, although it should follow the mythology theme used by all the guard vehicles. Suggestions welcome. Once it's finished I will write up a datasheet for use in Apocalypse. I will also try some playtesting in regular 40K as this thing isn't exactly going to be overpowered. Comments welcome!

Imperial Guard: Low-Tech Guardsmen

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Today I finally have a small update for my Imperial Guard. I found some more old WW2 Russian minis and rather than keep sitting in a box I decided to get them some bases and buildup a small squad for use in the Imperial Guard. They will represent the remains of a regiment from a low-tech world where even the commonplace lasgun is rare. Instead they all will have 'autoguns'. Pictured here are wip pics of teh first five which includes a flamer. There are about three more to go and then it'll be on to some details and basing. Comments welcome!

Fiberglass Demon: The Return

View Comments
Hello all,

It's the triumphant return of the Fiberglass Demon. Been a long time everyone and I apologize for the lapse in posts. I have started a new project after a long break from the Warhammer 40K world. I am currently working on an infantry based Imperial Guard force that I am enjoying quite a bit. It is fun to play and the one model at a time approach I am taking for the painting is turning out to be very rewarding. Giving each model the attention that I would normally give only to characters is making the army appear very striking on the table top. I will have pictures coming in the next few weeks as I try to complete the 1500 point list for a local tournament coming late next month. They are coming along at a rate of about two models a day from primer to finish and a tank is taking me most of a day to complete. I am working hard on getting them done so please be patient while waiting for the pictures to go up.

Rest assured devoted followers I will be posting more often than ever as I have found a project that I am not only enjoying but a list that is very competitive and a blast to play. Until next time keep the paint flowing and share our amazing hobby with someone every chance you get.

Imperial Guard: Vulture WIP

View Comments

Imperial Guard: Stormtroopers WIP

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Today I have some WIP pics of my stormtrooper squad. I really prefer the stormtroopers over the kasrkrin models. This was quite an expensive squad to assemble as each blister of special weapons troopers (not pictured) cost nearly as much as 4 of the regular stormtroopers! Nevertheless, one unit of these guys will be quite sufficient. They still need some touching up detailing, then I'll hit them with devlan mud. Comments welcome!

Terrain: Bastion WIP

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Today I have a WIP pic for the two-story bastion that is part of the excellent Planetstrike terrain. It still needs touching up in some areas and then detail work. It's definitely been fun to use as an objective in Apocalypse and regular 40K thus far!

Imperial Guard: Veteran Squad

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Today I have some pics of my first complete Veteran Squad! These guys will be sporting the primary color scheme for my army which features rusted armor and desert-colored uniforms. I still need to go back and do the faces and give the squad a few washes, but otherwise they're ready to rock. Comments welcome!

The two meltagun specialists in the squad as denoted by their shoulder markings. Note the melta on the right which is actually a trimmed down space marine combi-melta. I needed another meltagun before a tournament and couldn't find any in my bits. This was the best part on hand and it works :)

Imperial Guard: Reinforcements

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. My Imperial Guard get some more reinforcements in the form of the Imperial Strongpoint and 2 Valkyries and 2 Manticores! The strongpoint will see use in our upcoming Apocalypse campaign and is a really nice set. I'm working on a 2-story bastion and a smaller outpost sized one as well. The Valkyries will be converted into Vendettas. And the Manticores are going to be an excellent addition.
