Ork Kommando Upgrade Set Available to Pre-Order Now

Ork KommandozJust as we thought the fantastic tide of Ork releases we have treated you to recently had abated, the talented Mark Bedford has sculpted a highly detailed set of Kommando Upgrade parts for use with the plastic Ork Boyz kit. Kommandoz often make use of 'Chinork' Warkoptas to launch the Orky equivalent of an Imperial stealth raid. In these raids, dozens of Orks cling to the sides of these huge war machines before leaping onto the heads of their hapless enemy and directly into battle.
This highly anticipated conversion set is available to pre-order now for release in the week commencing July 26th.

Raven Guard Transfer Sheet Available to Pre-Order Now

Raven Guard TransfersFollowing the incredibly popular Raven Guard releases from Forge World, including the Raven Guard Upgrade Set and Shadow-Captain Korvydae, comes this fantastic Raven Guard Transfer Sheet.
Designed by Forge World graphic artist Kenton Mills, this A4 decal sheet is packed with over 600 Chapter-specific icons and squad markings to allow you to add detail to your Raven Guard models. The sheet covers the full range of Raven Guard insignia which can be applied to all types of Space Marine vehicles and troops. This transfer shoot is available to pre-order now. It will be despatched in the week commencing July 26th.

Shas'o R'alai Rules Now Available to Download
Commander Vesu'r R'alai is one of the Tau Empire's most experienced Battlesuit pilots, a grim and driven warrior who is famed for his fearlessness, controversial tactics and utter dedication to the defence of Tau. You can find these rules in our Downloads section or by clicking here. The rules for our other XV-9, XV9-01 and XV9-04 Close Support Armour variant Battlesuits are available in Imperial Armour Apocalypse II.

News: Forgeworld Newsletter #235

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. The latest Forgeworld newsletter is out and there are some awesome new releases coming out for Orks and Tau! (yes, Tau) The Stompa is getting several upgrade kits which will add to an already awesome kit and should make them an even bigger menace in Apocalypse games. The Tau are getting some really cool battlesuits whose new weapon systems seem to be another evolution of their technology. Rapid-fire meltas anyone? I am liking the new sleeker look of these battlesuits as opposed to the old blocky ones that currently make up the GW range. Comments welcome!

"Hi There,
In this Newsletter we have a great selection of eagerly-anticipated Ork, Space Wolves and Tau releases, first showcased at the Forge World Open Day. We also have some news about the upcoming Games Day France, for which we are making our final preparations.

Thanks,
Ead Brown

Ork Kustom Stompa
StompaThere are some Mek Bosses who are well-supplied enough to be able to kustom-build a Stompa as a bespoke project for a particularly wealthy Warboss, extra spikes, additional weapons and ornate bosspoles are common additions. The weapon arms usually seen on these war machines are replaced with energy weapons capable of tossing huge tanks across the battlefield with devastating results, or giant rippa klaws to rend enemy war machines apart at close quarters - all the better to claim the choicest scrap for future projekts.

The Meks also delight in diverting the power of the Stompas roaring engines into enormous and unpredictable force beam generators, built into the head of this gigantic idol to Gork (or possibly Mork). Such devastating power can tear even the mighty Titans of the Adeptus Mechanicus asunder in a storm of energy, and regardless of design are commonly known as the Gaze of Mork (or possibly Gork). Some firepower-obsessed Meks even replace the internal transport capacity of a Stompa with a huge-bore Kannon, usually called a Belly Gun in typical Orky fashion. The unstable gait of the war machine makes such a weapon even more inaccurate, but this is seen as a suitable trade for the overwhelming noise of the gun and the size of the explosions made by its gargantuan shells.

These monstrous resin upgrade kits for the plastic Stompa, designed by Stuart Williamson, allow you to add a wide variety of weapon options to the plastic Stompa kit. The resin conversion kits are available to order here for dispatch during the week commencing April 26th, and can also be purchased as a complete resin and plastic kit:

The Complete Ork Stompa contains the Head, Klaw and Lifta-Droppa arms, and a plastic Stompa kit. The forthcoming Imperial Armour 8: Raid on Kastorel-Novem will feature technical information, background and full rules for a Kustom Stompa.

Tau XV-9-01 with Fusion Cascades
XV9-1 Fusion CascadeThe first of our XV-9 variants, this advanced Battlesuit, designed by Daren Parrwood, mounts cutting-edge fusion gun variants that can be used with the high-tech systems of the XV-9, and the Fusion Cascade engulfs its target in powerful melta energy. It fires in bursts, meaning that despite each charge being less powerful than an Imperial equivalent, it can overwhelm its target through weight of fire.

Tau XV-9-04 with Phased Ion Guns
XV-9-4 PHased Ion Cannons
The XV-9-04 wields Phased Ion Guns - these experimental weapons seek to develop the rapid-firing technology of the Cyclic Ion blaster and vehicle mounted Ion Cannon into a stable battlesuit system. The long accelerators of the Phased Ion Gun allow the pilot to engage the enemy at range with a storm of projectiles that react explosively on an atomic level, decimating heavily armoured infantry and vehicles.

Tau Shas'o R'alai and Drones
Shaso RalaiThe Shas'vre assigned to pilot the XV-9 Battlesuit armour are combat veterans, each a survivor of the deadliest battles against the Greater Good's most savage foes. The Fire Caste of Ke'lshan has mastered the use of the XV-9, and within this cadre of solemn and determined warriors Shas'o R'alai is a paragon amongst veterans; his skills have been rewarded with the most advanced weapons and equipment produced by the Earth Caste.

Full rules and background for the XV-9, XV-9-01 and XV-9-04 can be found in Imperial Armour Apocalypse II. Full rules and background for Shas'o R'alai will be available to download from the Forge World website in the coming months.
All three of these resin kits, designed by Daren Parrwood, are available to order here for dispatch during the week commencing April 26th.

Space Wolves Transfer Sheet
Space Wolves TransfersThis A4 colour transfer sheet contains a huge range of decals that can be used to add variety to your Space Wolves infantry and vehicles - roughly 400 individual transfers are supplied on the sheet. Each of the twelve Great Companies of the Chapter are represented, many for the first time, and the sheet also allows you to identify all types of Space Marine vehicles as belonging to Grey Hunter, Blood Claw or Long Fang packs. You can order this fantastic transfer sheet here, and you can also see examples of how you can use these decals on your Space Wolves infantry and vehicles.

Games Day France 2010
Sunday April 18th sees Forge World attending Games Day France at the Parc Floral de Paris. Our Sales stand will be stocked with a wide selection of the entire Forge World range, including the new release kits mentioned in this Newsletter.
Will Hayes and Simon Egan from our Studio design team will be in attendance to answer your questions about sculpting and modelling, as well as offering a sneak peek of forthcoming Forge World releases.
You will be able to look through final proof copies of Imperial Armour 8: Raid on Kastorel-Novem as well, and as an exclusive offer to Games Day customers, we will be taking pre-orders for this fantastic new book in advance of general release.
As always, we will award the Forge World Best in Show trophy as part of the Golden Daemon awards ceremony - the Forge World model we judge to be the finest entry into the competition will receive this accolade.

News: Forgeworld Newsletter #224

View Comments
Hi all, another FW newsletter arrives. This time the Tau are getting some new firepower in the form of a sleek new battlesuit.

"Hi There,
Here at Forge World our Christmas rush has already begun, so we thought it would be a good time to remind you about getting your orders to us in time for the big day. We also have another great new model available for release as well, the Tau XV-9 Close Support Armour for Warhammer 40,000.

Thanks
Alan Bligh

XV-9 `Hazard` Close Support Armour
An original battlesuit design intended to act as a powerful counter-attack unit and mobile weapons platform, this new addition to the Tau arsenal has been created in response to heavy losses incurred during the bloodiest phases of the Third Sphere Expansion. The XV-9 is one of the most complex and advanced combat systems the Tau have ever put into wide production, requiring a veteran`s skills to master in combat in service of the Greater Good.

Previewed in limited qualities at Games Day UK, the model is a full resin kit designed by Daren Parrwood. The XV-9 is larger than a standard crisis suit as you can see Here and looks sleek and deadly. This first version comes equipped with two twin-linked burst cannon.

The Tau XV-9 is available to Now for immediate release.

Rules for the Tau XV-9 will be found in the forthcoming Imperial Armour Apocalypse II, and you can find experimental rules on our website Here."

News: Forgeworld Newsletter #221

The FW newsletters just keep pouring in. Here is the latest:

Hi There,
Games Day UK is at last upon us and so I have our last preview newsletter for you, featuring some exciting last minute additions to our line up of models in the shape of two daemon engines and a brand new Tau battlesuit! We hope to see many of you on the day, and we`ll have a few more surprises for you on our studio stand as well.

Thanks
Alan Bligh

The Plague Hulk of Nurgle
A lurching, rotting monstrosity that befouls and taints the very ground it walks on, the Plague Hulk is a daemon engine sacred to Nurgle, the Chaos God of Decay and corruption. Designed by Sean Green and Phil Stutcinskas, this huge, nightmarish fusion of bloated daemon-thing and Chaos Defiler is redolent with the marks of decay and corrosion as you can see Here. It will make a fantastically characterful addition to any army devoted to the Plague God, not to mention a great painting project in its own right thanks to the model’s lavish (if unpleasant!) detail.

The Plague Hulk of Nurgle is a hybrid kit using resin components and elements from the plastic Chaos Defiler kit and sold as a complete model.

We should have a limited supply of this model available at Games Day UK, and the model will go on general release later in the year.

You can find experimental rules for the Plague Hulk Here

Blood Slaughterer of Khorne with Impaler
A variant of our previously released Blood Slaughterer of Khorne, featuring a fantastically detailed and savage looking barbed harpoon launcher arm and a new head which you can see Here, this model has been designed by Phil Stutcinskas and Simon Egan. Using its Impaler, this murderous war machine is able to harpoon its enemies and drag them into range of its slashing claws, ensuring that none can escape the wrath of the Blood God’s armies.

We should have a limited supply of this model available at Games Day UK, and the model will go on general release later in the year.

Rules for the Blood Slaughterer with Impaler can be found in Imperial Armour Volume Seven, The Siege of Vraks Part Three

Games Day UK 09
Forge World will be in attendance in force at Games Day UK. You can look forward to meeting our whole design and studio team. Well also have lots of display models including a Chaos Reaver Titan painted by the inimitable Phil Stutcinskas, terrain boards including a fantastic new Ork wrecking yard, previews of two forthcoming books and previously unseen new models!

Keep an eye on our updated Games day UK webpage, which you can find Here for more information and previews.

Unfortunately it`s too late to place a reservation order for the show if you have not already done so, but as always we will have our huge sales stand at the event with a massive range of stock. This will include our events only models such as the Mounted Death Korps of Krieg Commissar, Reaver Titan Princeps, Imperial Thunderbolt Pilot, Ork Squadron Kommander, and the last few Renegade Ogyrn with Death Korps Victim, as well as brand new releases in limited numbers, not to mention our new Weathering Powders.

The latest Forge World catalogue supplement is also available to download Here, featuring some of our latest releases, including some of the new models we will have available at the show.

Tau XV-9 ‘Hazard’ Close Support Armour
New for the Tau is the XV-9 ‘Hazard’ Close Support Armour, an original battlesuit design intended to act as a powerful counter-attack unit and mobile weapons platform. A recent addition to the Tau arsenal created in response to heavy losses incurred during the bloodiest phases of the Third Sphere Expansion, the XV-9 is one of the most complex and advanced combat systems the Tau have ever put into wide production, requiring a veteran’s skills to master in combat in service of the greater good. Designed by Daren Parrwood, the XV-9 is larger than a standard crisis suit as you can see Here and looks sleekly lethal. This first version comes equipped with two twin-linked burst cannon.

We should have a limited supply of this model available at Games Day UK, and the model will go on general release later in the year.

Preliminary experimental rules for the Tau XV-9 can be found Here

Another imperssive first glimpse at future releases, and gasp!, they're not just more variations on Imperial Guard tanks and alternate turrets etc. In other words, there are some xenos releases coming! Chaos is getting a hefty dose of new stuff, and even the Tau are seeing a new battlesuit, which looks pretty impressive in my opinion. It will be interesting to see when and how new Tau stuff will feature in upcoming issues of Imperial Armor. Your thoughts?

Apocalypse: Lucky 13s Battle #4

View Comments
Hey all, just a couple of pics from the last Lucky 13s game we played. Unfortunately there are only these few pics to share as everyone else forgot their cameras and my camera died after these 3 pics lol. This was perhaps the most fun game out of the four thus far, as there were no Guard armies clogging the battlefield with dozens and dozens of tanks. Play proceeded rather quickly allowing us to get in more turns than the previous games. In the end, it was another resounding victory for the good guys (Blood Angels x2 & Grey Knights), as we destroyed their bastion and made a major feint there. In actuality our plan was to simply hang on to our objectives as we had chosen a vital objecive from the assets. The game swung decidely in our favor after wiping out about 2k pts of Tyranids that had used flank march to deploy behind our bastion. Their shooting didn't do much and so on our following turn about 1k pts of Blood Angels and as many Grey Knights deployed after them, and with some insane rolling, especially my Death Company & Chappy, as well as a full assault squad, we annihilated all of the nids on that side of the board. We were contesting both of their objectives as well until the last turns when they shored up their defenses. End result, a 3-2 victory for us although with two of their players virtually tabled it would've been a complete massacre had we played another turn.
