Blood Angels: Dreadnaught

Time for a little bit of love for my Blood Angels: my long range (shooty) Dreadnaught. I've still got some work to do on this guy but he's ready for the tabletop again, especially now that I've got finished the FW plasma cannon arm. I still need to get the other various weapon arms finished but these ones are the typical loadout I take. The twin-linked lascannon/missile launcher setup is just too good at long range support, and nothing beats dispatching the enemies of the Emperor than a well-placed salvo from one these dreads. :) One thing I liked when I first started 40K (back in the distant days of 3rd ed) were the banners that basically every sergeant, character, and dreadnaught had. With that in mind, I ordered up the Blood Angels banner poles for my dreads and got to work on creating some custom banners :)

Dogs of War: Mercenary Cannon

Time for another update for the Dogs of War, this time one of my Mercenary Cannon teams. The cannon and two human crewmen are the Bronzino's Galloper Gun minis and the powder monkey is from the new Empire Handgunners/Crossbowmen box set.

Fantasy Tournament Tomorrow - Preview

I'll be hosting the WFB tournament tomorrow. Should be a good turnout tomorrow despite the situation with the prizes which I just found out about today. Terrain: Warhammer Well

Managed to get another piece of terrain finished. This time the well for Warhammer Fantasy. This is the 3rd and last piece of terrain from my FW order and it feels good to knock those three out of the way so I can move on to tanks, tanks, tanks! (Especially with the Guard codex just around the corner ...). I decided to leave the roof of the well unglued so that I can field it with or without to change things up a bit. There is a pic of it without the roof towards the bottom. I still need to touch up the water in the well and trough a bit. I like the little details on the sides of the roof frame. Still need to paint the crank for the well but that won't take much time at all. As always comments and questions are welcome!

New Releases: Lizardmen Scar Veteran with Army Standard

Just saw this on the Games Workshop website. The Scar Veteran Army Standard Bearer is now up for preorder. The release date for it is May 16. He is going for $17.00.

It's cool to see the Lizardmen get another release. The banner looks suitably ancient. Not too big of a fan of the Scar Vet himself though. His face seems a bit blaah - could be the angle though. What do you guys thinks? Comment away!

Favorite Retailers: Magcraft

Looking to magnetize your fantasy army for easier storage and transportation, and to not have them tipping over while you move them? Then look no further than Magcraft! They have rare earth magnets of all shapes and sizes for a good price. Their shipping is fast and cheap too!


I picked up 100 mags for my various fantasy armies and they are definitely useful! This can save you a lot of time especially if you're playing a horde army and really helps prevent minis (such as top heavy ones) from tipping over. Well worth checking out.

Dogs of War: The Paymaster

After going through a few paint schemes I decided to give him one final version which is what we have here. Nothing too fancy for a Paymaster on foot. I generally run him with a morningstar (here it's a mace) and a pistol which you can sort of see stick out to the side of him. I did try my first green stuff work with him and the fur on the back of his cloak is the result. Not too shabby for a first try. He is basically just from the new Empire hero kit with the addition of one of the old 6th ed Empire shields. Questions and comments welcome!
