News: Greenskins Incoming!

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. GW's latest newsletter brings us previews of the new Orcs & Goblins and the massive new Giant Spider kit! Our store just received the new Black Box and I mus say this kit is HUGE, even the base is about twice the size of a chariot base. A preview copy of the new O&G army book is in as well. It'll be interesting to see what the first real 8th ed army book is like. It does seem like Fantasy is increasingly adding a massive new plastic kit (or two) for each army. Whether this is a good thing or not is something that we'll have to wait and see.

News: GW Newsletter - The Green Tide Cometh!

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. The latest GW newsletter is out and there is definitely a Green Tide coming our way in the near future as the Warhammer Fantasy Orcs are set to receive some eagerly awaited updates to aging miniatures! Everyone has known about new plastic Boar Boyz for a while but the new plastic River Trolls are a bit unexpected, yet awesome nevertheless! Then of course, there is the brilliant and epic Azhag the Slaughterer! While I don't play Orcs for Fantasy, I know our very own Warlord, CheezWhiz will be excited to update his forces. Comments welcome!

In this issue: Advance Order Orcs & Goblins; Start a Waaagh!

New to Advance Order

Orcs and Goblins are one of the classic races of the Warhammer world and certainly one of the most versatile. An Orcs & Goblins player can field an army of brutal, hard-hitting Orcs, a vast sea of Goblins or a mixture of both; the abundance of choice in the Orcs & Goblins army list provides a tremendous variety of theme, strategy and exciting special rules for a would-be Warboss to choose from.

Orc Boar Boyz Orc Boar BoyzOrc Boar Boyz are the shock cavalry of the Orcs & Goblins army. Not only do the Orcs pack a hefty punch on the charge, but their ferocious war boars hit as hard as an Elven or Human Knight! Check them out here.
River Trolls River TrollsRiver Trolls are large, hideous creatures and are great fun to game with – they can regenerate wounds and even vomit on the enemy. But don't take our word for it – advance order your own unit of these foul monsters here and see for yourself.

Start a Waaagh!

New miniatures are the best excuse in the world to start a new army, and with the release of the new plastic River Trolls and Boar Boyz it's easier than ever to collect and model a greenskin horde like the ones you've read about.

Orcs & Goblins are great fun to play with: if everything goes right (if your units don't bicker and squabble, and your war machines don't blow themselves up) then you'll comfortably batter any foe; if on the other hand, things go wrong (in the frustrating yet amusing way that only Orcs & Goblins can engineer) then no cunning plan will save you from defeat. Most of the time you'll tread the two extremes, waiting to see if your next dice roll will bring about the former (all your Fanatics twirling off in the right direction) or the latter (your Shaman's head exploding). Besides, if you do find yourself on the receiving end of a whooping or two, you can guarantee you'll have had a good laugh in doing so.
Orcs & Goblins
To start your greenskin horde, you'll need a copy of Warhammer Armies: Orcs & Goblins, it contains all of the rules and information you'll need, and you can't consider yourself a proper Orc player without one. The Orc & Goblin Battalion is a great next purchase, it's packed with miniatures and offers a saving over buying the contents individually (it's also a satisfyingly big box). With those you'll have the makings of a small force, though more Orc Boyz will come in handy and adding some Black Orcs (they're far bigger, meaner and harder than normal Orcs) will add some punch to your army. That just leaves you with a General to find. By far the biggest and most impressive of which is Azhag the Slaughterer (there's a picture of him below). Not only is he an awesome miniature but he's proper hitty in the game too.

WAAAAAAAGH Pyle #3

Hey everyone,

As promised I have finally managed to get some pictures of some WIP. In particular I finally constructed the Warboss on Gigantic Spider. The model is insane! It is one of the harder kits in the citadel range and took me a couple hours to build. Every joint was pinned and I even had to pin it to the base. That being said, the finished model looks amazing.

Along with this fella, I've been working on a pack of spider riders. I've included a pic of one that is nearly completed. All that's left is some final highlights and some static grass for the base.

The last pic is just to demonstrate just how big the warboss is. I would never have guessed by looking at the picture on the GW website that he was this large. I think he'll make a pretty good centerpiece model.

Let me have some feedback (specifically on the painted guy). I'll hopefully have some more up in a short while.

Hey everyone,

I've had a little problem with my camera so as soon as I can I will upload some pictures of the minis I've been preparing. I've been painstakingly painting spider riders and expect my spider rider warboss to arrive tomorrow. So as soon as I can get the camera up and running I will post pictures of my WIP.

Stay tuned!

Hey everyone! Over the next couple months we (myself and my brother) will be authoring a running series of posts detailing the massing of our Orcs and Goblins army for the upcoming 2v2 tournament in Lafayette. We hope to get started tomorrow with some more content, but some things that will be included will be:
  • Army Composition Notes
  • Photos (construction, painting, and finished units)
  • Fluff
  • Perhaps some painting tips for greenskins

I look forward to sharing our joint hobbying with all of you and look forward to your comments and questions

News: GW Newsletter - Orcs & Goblins Incoming

View Comments
Hello all, just had this GW newsletter hit the inbox! Orcs & Goblins are going to be getting some serious attention in the near future!

The Games Workshop Newsletter 28.02.2010
In this issue: More Orcs & Goblins coming in May

More Orcs & Goblins coming in May

Orcs & Goblins are the scourge of the Warhammer world, an unending tide of ferocious raiders. For every greenskin Waaagh! defeated on the field of battle, another arises to trample a swathe of destruction across the land. Orcs and Goblins live to fight!

Orcs & Goblins are one of the most popular Warhammer armies and it's not difficult to see why: they can field warriors of all shapes and sizes from tiny Snotlings to Giants, and every shape of Orc and Squig in-between. They have access to a bizarre array of war machines and mounts, and some of the most entertaining special rules of any Warhammer army. And thanks to their inclusion in the great-value Battle for Skull Pass set, are often the first army a hobbyist collects.

So this May we're celebrating the Orcs & Goblins in all their choppa-wielding glory. We're under orders from the Big Boss to keep quiet about exactly what's going on so be sure to check out games-workshop.com in April when all will be revealed and pick up May's issue of White Dwarf for an in-depth look at all things green.
