Flames of War: AT Platoon Complete

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Following hot on the heels of the HMG platoon being finished, I decided to finish up another platoon that I had started several months ago - my PaK40 platoon! These AT guns put some serious damage on any Allied tank. The platoon comes with a command section which gets to ride around the battlefield in a Kubelwagen if necessary. One of the things I love about flames of war is that several units come with the support vehicles which would tow/transport troops and materiel. I will have to add a pic later to include the three trucks which tow the guns themselves. This is quite the menacing unit to put any of your vehicles in front of! Comments welcome!

Flames of War: HMG Platoon Complete

Hello all, Slick here. It's time for another Flames of War update. Lately, I've been in a painting mood, and I really want to get the rest of my Wehrmacht force finished. First up was to finish my HMG platoon. These guys can be deployed separately or attached to Grenadier platoons to add some firepower. Some of the troopers in this set had some deformities from the casting process (one face is basically a blob) but other than that everything was in order. This is was a fun unit to paint up and they are definitely a blast to use in the game! Comments welcome!

Flames of War: Reinforcements

View Comments
Hi all, yet more additions to the Grenadier Kompanie. Artillery definitely plays a big role in this game, so much so that not having any leaves you at a serious disadvantage. To remedy that, I picked up the complete 10.5cm artillery battery for my Grenadiers! Once everything is gets painted I'll work on adding these guys to the Kompanie. This is a nice set as it contains scenic bases for everything. Comments welcome!

Flames of War: 3 Ton Trucks

Hi all, another Flames of War update. Here we have the 3-ton Trucks that are part of my PaK 40 AT platoon. This adds some mobility to the otherwise static guns, in case I need to pack them up and relocate to a better position. Comments welcome!

Flames of War: Stugs

Hi all, another Flames of War update. This time we have tanks! I have some work in progress pics on the makings of my Stug G platoon. Here are the first two tanks. They still need their cammo patterns painted on. Thus far, they are proving quite deadly against Shermans although their weak side/rear armor is concerning as is the fact that the guns are hull mounted meaning it's hard to get them firing at full ROF. I'll have to add more to the platoon soon. Comments welcome!

Flames of War: Update

Hi all, a quick Flames of War update. This time it's a Grenadier team with an attached HMG team. These guys still need a lot of touching up and highlighting. I've got 2 more HMG teams to paint in order to finish that platoon, and then it's on to the dozen or so teams for my Grenadier platoons. Comments welcome!

Flames of War: Grenadier Kompanie Updates

View Comments
Hey all, here are some updates for my Grenadier Company. I managed to get a PaK 40 team, MG 34 team, and a platoon HQ (with jeep) finished so far. Next up will be finishing up the entire AT and MG platoons. Comments welcome!

Flames of War: Grenadier Company Update

View Comments
Hey all, time for a Flames of War update. As you can see my Grenadier Company (mid war) is growing rather rapidly. You've seen the Tiger I already, so here is what else has been added. For some more armor I added a pair of StuGs and a Panzer IV H (figuring out how to add those armor skirts deserves a medal). For some static anti-tank I picked up a full platoon of 7.5cm PaK40s which necessitated picking up 3ton trucks to transport them. Those are pictured right side. On the left I just picked up a full MG platoon which contains 4 MG34s. On to the infantry, the Grenadiers! I just picked up my second platoon which allows me to now field two platoons at 3 sqauds each (30 troops). In the very front you also see the company HQ. This, along with the Tiger gets me well past the 1k points mark. I still need to pick up several pieces: I'm considering some 88s, Stukas, more Stugs, maybe some Panzer IIIs, and certainly a mortar & artillery platoon. The one Tiger tank might get lonely so I might have to get a second one sometime as well. Our group recently played our first game and it was quite a blast --- a welcome change of pace and scale from Warhammer. It was a team game with Italians and Germans vs Brits and Americans. For the most part my dice failed me throughout the game and it was essentially the Italian artillery that won us the game as it was just devastating turn after turn. My StuGs were having trouble putting Shermans out of action, due more to my lousy rolling than the effectiveness of the tanks. In the last turn however I did manage to position the StuGs for rear shots on the 2 remaining Shermans, destroying both. At this point the Allied side really only had a few remnants left. Massacre for the Axis forces!

Flames of War: Tiger 1E

View Comments
Hey all, time for something completely new. As a break from Warhammer & 40K we're trying out Flames of War. I decided to go with Germans (tanks tanks and more tanks!). Thus far it has been really fun and there are definitely a lot of positives to Battlefront's Miniatures game. I'll detail some thoughts on the game/company in another post. For now, here is a mostly finished Tiger I which will hopefully be demolishing Shermans soon. Comments welcome!
