News: GW Newsletter

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. The latest GW newsletter is out and there actually isn't anything 'new' to report, unless you've been living under a rock and do not know about Spearhead or any of the new releases. It's basically an advertisement for this month's White Dwarf, which is actually a much better offering than normal.

The Games Workshop Newsletter 28.05.2010
In this issue: Spearhead & The best issue of White Dwarf yet?

June’s White Dwarf; Warhammer 40,000: Spearhead

June's issue of White Dwarf is absolutely bursting with hobby. No matter what game system you play, this issue will blow your dice-rolling socks off. Warhammer 40,000 players will find full rules (and some cracking pictures) for the new Eldar Night Spinner and accompanying Apocalypse datasheets. Mat Ward treats The Lord of the Rings players to rules for the latest releases including the Dwimmerlaik and Duinhir; and (wait for it) there's even a sneak peek at the new Warhammer!

Warhammer 40,000: Spearhead Warhammer 40,000: Spearhead

Also inside June's issue of White Dwarf are the full rules for Spearhead, a brand-new Warhammer 40,000 Expansion. Spearhead allows you to fight huge tank battles using whole squadrons of tanks and thunderous amounts of artillery support. In games of Spearhead you'll be able to field elite tank formations and waves of armoured vehicles. Each Spearhead formation has its own set of special rules making it even more deadly. This, combined with the new missions (also included in White Dwarf), allows for a whole range of new tactical possibilities and challenges for you to master. Spearhead is a completely new Expansion for Warhammer 40,000 and is completely free with June's issue of White Dwarf.

Imperial Guard: WIP Shadowsword

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Time for some more 'super' heavy metal! Here are some wip pics of my Shadowsword. It still needs a ton of detailing but it at least tabletop ready for the upcoming Lucky 13s league. I'm leaving the lascannons off of the small turrets to use as targeters, since upgrading to BS4 with this beast is a must. Comments welcome!

News: GW Newsletter - Warhammer Sneak Peek!

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. The latest GW newsletter is out and we finally get to see some pages from the massive 8th edition rulebook! The battles look nothing short of epic. Most interestingly is that we get to see a preview of one of the scenarios! It's looking more and more like a necessary revitalization of Warhammer! What do you guys think of the upcoming edition and these previews?

The Games Workshop Newsletter 26.05.2010
In this issue: Sneak Peek: New Warhammer!

New Warhammer: almost here!

Since we announced the new edition of Warhammer back in April, the excitement has been slowly building. Across the land hobbyists have begun gathering their forces in preparation of the mighty battles that lie ahead; in hushed whispers they've talked about what might lie within the 528-pages of the new Warhammer rulebook. Well prepare to ramp your excitement up a notch - Warhammer will be available to advance order from the 15th of June. Inspired by the clockwork creations of the engineers of Altdorf, we've today added a swish countdown clock to games-workshop.com, so you'll know exactly how many minutes and seconds to go before you can order your copy.

To thank you for subscribing to our newsletter (these images won't be shown anywhere else!) we thought we'd give you a sneak peek inside the new book. And don't forget that June's issue of White Dwarf is out this weekend and contains more exclusive information and pictures from the new Warhammer rulebook.

Enjoy.

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. The latest GW newsletter is out and it's all about the Orcs! Basically we have more previews for the new Boar Boyz and Trolls which should be available in stores now. Hopefully these new kits point towards a new army book for these guys after 8th edition is released as they sorely need an update. How are you guys liking the new Board Riders and Trolls?

The Games Workshop Newsletter 21.05.2010
In this issue: It’s time to deliver a whuppin’

New Today

The Boar Boyz and River Trolls are the heavy-hitters of the Orcs & Goblins army. Boar Boyz work best on the offensive, smashing their way through the enemy's line. The River Trolls are among the most resilient creatures in Warhammer and can shrug off an enemy's charge before striking back with their own fearsome attacks.

News: Forgeworld Newsletter #238

Hello all, Slick here. The latest Forgeworld Newsletter is out and there are more releases for Raven Guard and Orks in relation to Imperial Armour 8! The Stompa gets some more customization and battlewagons get the Lifta Droppa arm! Raven Guard get the custom door/shoulder pad treatment as with other marine chapters.

"Hi There,
Once again, we have a newsletter packed full of fantastic releases for you, all of which are featured in our brand new Imperial Armour book, Raid on Kastorel-Novem. This tells the story of a surprise attack by the forces of the Imperium against a vital Ork world and the desperate battles that follow. You can find out more about our new book Here.

Thanks
Ead Brown

The Raven Guard
Last week`s newsletter saw the release of Simon Egan's fantastically detailed Shadow Captain Korvydae and Raven Guard Upgrade Set, which have proved hugely popular. Hot on the heels of these two infantry kits is a swathe of heavier options for Raven Guard players:

Raven Guard Thunderhawks and MKIIB Land Raider
Raven Guard These taciturn Astartes may be famed for their stealth, but no Raven Guard Strike Force would be complete without armour. The Raven Guard Thunderhawk Gunship allows Space Marine infantry to swiftly redeploy to exploit the weaknesses of an enemy battle line. This mighty aircraft is supplied with a set of Chapter specific doors encrusted with Raven Guard icons and battle honours.

Heavy equipment is often flown from an orbiting Strike Cruiser or Battle Barge to support an initial Drop Pod assault. The Transporter variant of the mighty Thuderhawk Gunship sacrifices its additional weaponry and transport capacity in favour of huge grapple arms that clamp to the hull of an armoured vehicle. The Raven Guard Thunderhawk Transporter with Land Raider and Raven Guard Thunderhawk Transporter with Rhinos, allow a fast moving Strike Force to quickly deploy heavy reinforcements in support of an engagement.

Space Marine tanks are renowed throughout the Imperium, and none more so than the indomitable Land Raider. The ancient MKIIb pattern of this tank is an honoured relic amongst those Chapters that posses one, and the war-spirit of each revered machine is is undiminished despite the millennia since the activation of each system. The Raven Guard MkIIb Land Raider is but one example, and this resin and plastic hybrid kit is supplied with a set of doors featuring detailed Raven Guard iconography.

The Raven Guard Thunderhawks and MKIIB Land Raider are available to order now from the Forge World Webstore for release the week commencing the 24th of May.

The Orks!
In addition to our recent `Chinork` Warcopta and Kustom Stompa Upgrades we have yet more Orky releases, fresh from the twisted depths of Buzzgob's genius:

Full Kustom Stompa with Belly Gun
StompaBy popular demand, we`ve put together a complete Kustom Stompa kit featuring the Kustom Stompa Head, Stompa Klaw Arm, Stompa Lifta Droppa and Stompa Belly Gun along with the Games Workshop plastic Stompa model enable you to build a fully 'kustomised' Stompa. Rules for this colossal metal beast (along with scores of other potential Stompa variants for you to build) can be found in Imperial Armour Volume 8, Raid on Kastorel-Novem as part of 'Buzzgob's Mek Workshop Kustom Stompa Builder'.

The Ork Kustom Stompa with Belly Gun is available now from the Forge World Webstore

Ork Lifta Droppa Wagon
Battlewagon Lifta DroppaAlso new for the Orks is this fantastically ludicrous Battlewagon with Lifta Droppa, designed by Stuart Williamson and Mark Bedford. Only an Ork would dare to put such an unstable and powerful energy weapon on the back of a heavily armoured, flatbed, battlewagon to create an ungainly weapon of unimaginable power. The massive 'Traktor' beam is capable of picking up an enemy tank and throwing it around like an enraged child with a toy - as long as the onboard reactor doesn't blow up first of course! This huge and outlandish cannon comes as a hybrid resin and plastic kit with Games Workshop Battle Wagon parts, added mountings and Ork gunner. Full rules for the Ork Lifta Droppa Wagon can be found in Imperial Armour Volume 8, Raid on Kastorel-Novem.

The Ork Lifta Droppa Wagon is available to order now from the Forge World Webstore for release the week commencing the 24th of May.

Ork Weapons Set
Just the thing for any enterprising Mekboy our final Ork release for this Newsletter is a fantastic new Ork weapons set by the Studio Design Team. Included are twelve different guns including big shootas, shootas, skorchas and rokkit launchas along with weapon mounting brackets to fit them on your vehicles, and spare shells, magazines and ammo belts. You can find pictures of all this extra Dakka Here.

The Ork Weapons Set is available to order now from the Forge World Webstore for release the week commencing the 24th of May.

News: Mantic Newsletter - Dwarfs!

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. The latest Mantic newsletter is out and it's a big one! The first in the new Dwarf range is available and I must say I'm liking these a lot! They have various pre-order sales going on and the big gives you something like 100 dwarfs for less than $100 with each unit having a full command as well! I think that I will actually have to order up a unit or two to add to my Dogs of War. What do you guys think about Mantic's Dwarfs?

Mantic Games Newsletter
THEY HAVE ARRIVED!

Dwarf Ironclads

Ironclads march at the forefront of the armies of the Dwarfs. Heavily armoured in thick plate that a non-Dwarf would struggle to bear, such is the endurance of the Dwarfs that Ironclads have been known to march 50 miles in a single day and night, moving at a brisk trot that they can keep up seemingly forever. Tenacious, hardy and determined, an average Dwarf stands only as high as the shoulder of a man, yet they are far more massive, broad across the back and heavy-skulled.

An Ironclad’s armour is thickest about the Dwarf’s head and shoulders, for many of their foes are taller and strike downwards. The Dwarfs for their part prefer to concentrate on the lower portions of their foe, aiming for the ankles in particular, a technique the Ironclads refer to as “Cutting them down to size”.

All Dwarfs favour short-hafted heavy weapons suitable for hewing and crushing. Dwarfs have poor reach compared to other races, fancy fencing does little for them, while longer weapons will in any case become easily fouled on the walls of their tunnels.

The Ironclad fighting technique epitomises the Dwarven way of war. They lure their opponent into attacking first, trusting to their rugged physique and thick armour to protect them. Then, once the foe has come within reach, the Dwarf will respond in unhurried, deadly manner, smashing and hewing, warhammers and axes being the most common arms among their kind for this purpose.
Over the coming months one short (sorry! – ed) topic will be dominating events here at Mantic – our new army will be gracing wargames tables everywhere, and appearing on the shelves of your local gaming store. We are very proud to announce the third race in our range of fantasy battle armies:
THE DWARFS

Tales from the Forge

On the website we have built a history of the Dwarfs, and a comprehensive section about their military prowess. This includes details on troop types, battle formations, preferred weapons and armour, and of course their cannons!! To find out more, and see all the latest photos, click here.

Name that unit

Dakkadakka.com are currently running a competition to name one of our Dwarf units, the ranged attack troopers – who come armed with a choice of Crossbows and Rifles.
The comp closes on the 24th of May, but that still gives you plenty of time to check out the suggestions and a few days to get your ideas posted – and perhaps win the $200 prize and see you suggestion in print! Good luck!

All this week we have been posting updates about the Dwarfs, with sneak peaks, concept art and all things Dwarf related. To see all this and more click here.

From the Forge: Imperial Guard - Armored Car Complete

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. Here is the complete armored car that I showed WIP pics of a while ago! As you can see, there have been significant additions to the vehicle and a wide variety of bits have been used to bring it all together. I do still want to add another set of wheels to the car to make it a 6-wheeler but that will have to wait a while as it means buying another two space marine bikes. The car has been primed and I should be able to start painting soon. Comments welcome!

News: Mantic Newsletter

View Comments
Hello all, Slick here. The latest Mantic newsletter is out and unlike a certain other company, Mantic will not have a price increase for the foreseeable future! What does that mean for you? Same great prices same great minis! Take a look at the newsletter for more:

Mantic Games Newsletter
Mantic Games announces it's prices for 2010

For full details on Mantic's price rise for 2010, please see the press release.

Having reviewed our fantastic prices, we have decided that as of the 1st June, Mantic Games products will be exactly the same price as they are right now!!

so, that means no price rises – not one.

To celebrate this extraordinary event, until Monday 31st May, we will give away a free Mantic Messenger Bag with all orders over £50.00, €75.00 and $99.00!

We've also put the Small and Large Carry Cases up onto the website to purchase individually, along with a small and a large bundle deal, allowing you to pick up a load of boxes, at great value to store your models.

In combination, as the video below shows, the bag and carry case offer a fantastic solution to storing and transporting your armies. There are few better ways than the bag to transport those warhosts or army deals, such as Malak's Legion of Death, around in – and now you can have one for free!

We're only giving the free bag away up until the end of the 31st May – don't miss it, please check out the webstore!
Detail: if your order is over the threshold as you complete payment then a Messenger bag will be automatically added to your order at despatch.

Game on!

Some of you may have seen on the blog that a number of employees at Mantic are vying with each other for a ticket to a tournament in June. A few of the guys are doing an Undead Army and they realised they would rather have a few extra ghouls in place of the Balefire Catapult, so we've created this new bundle!
For the price of a Warhost, we've put together a new Alternative Warhost set containing 20 Skeletons, 20 Revenants and 20 Ghouls.

We've listened to feedback from the community and, for gaming play where not all the units might be covered by existing rules, this new set contains a tournament and game legal core army of Undead, ripe for a few additions of Vampires, Necromancers and Revenant Knights (which are tantalisingly close!).

Keep an eye out on the blog for a new Dwarf Week - all the latest gossip, rumours, news and fun!
Website Issue

An issue with the website has been picked up where the system is rejecting orders from certain countries, such as Bulgaria and Croatia. We are investigating a solution for this, but should such an issue occur in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us where we can add your order manually.
Facebook
Don't forget that Mantic is on Facebook, which is getting livelier as we start uploading more content, with the intention of keeping you guys involved with what's going on at Mantic Towers!

Mantic's expanding with less chins and more hair!

Mantic Games is pleased to welcome a new member to the fold in the shape of Mattieu (and if you've seen Stu before, you'll get the joke above!). As an international company, having a Belgian on board has so far proved a brilliant decision, because if there's one thing they do well, it's chocolate, which is rather unfortunate for our waistlines!

Design a Sleeve

We've had a few people asking us about the Design a Sleeve competition – well, we had such a fantastic response, it's taking rather a while to get through the submissions! We're keeping the competition open
as this video suggest, so please keep sending in your submissions.

For full details on the competition,

Hello all, Chris here. The latest FW newsletter is out and there are some exciting new releases heading our way. The Raven Guard get a special character as well as an upgrade pack, and the Orks are getting the massive new Warkopta! You can just imagine a squad of these flying across the battlefield.

"Hello There,
We`ve lots of new releases for you this newsletter, with some serious reinforcements on the way for both the Raven Guard Space Marines and the Orks! All of this is of course because our latest Imperial Armour book, Raid on Kastorel-Novem, has just hit the shelves, (so to speak). This tells the story of a surprise attack by the forces of the Imperium against a vital Ork world and the desperate battles that follow. You can see more about our new book Here.

Thanks
Alan Bligh

The Raven Guard
A notably grim and resolute Chapter of the 1st Founding of the Space Marines, the Raven Guard are masters of guerrilla tactics, surprise assaults, sowing terror and the execution of the brutal and overwhelming killing blow. Their black-clad Space Marines strike fear into the hearts of the enemies of humanity, while their war machines are adorned with symbols of death and inescapable fate.

Shadow Captain Korvydae
Shadow CaptainDesigned by Simon Egan, this is simply one of the most fantastically detailed 28mm models you will ever see, and if you don't believe me just look at the Gallery shots which you can find Here! A Space Marine Captain equipped with a jump pack and a Thunderhammer, Korydae is a fearsome opponent in combat, exemplifying his Chapter's mastery of hit and run tactics. Full rules for Shadow Captain Korvydae can be found in Imperial Armour Volume 8, Raid on Kastorel-Novem.
Shadow Captain Korvydae is available to pre-order Now from the Forge World Webstore for release the week commencing the 24th of May.

Raven Guard Upgrade Set
Raven Guard Upgrade Also available to pre-order is our Raven Guard upgrade set, designed by Simon Egan and Will Hayes. This set contains highly detailed Raven Guard Mark VI 'Corvus' pattern armour helmets, torsos, shoulder plates and backpacks for use in conjunction with the Games Workshop Space Marine plastic infantry kits. The set contains enough parts to make five marines in Mark VI armour in combination with plastics including a Veteran Sergeant, as well as five alternate pattern Sternguard bolters. You can see some gallery images of models made with these much anticipated upgrades Here.
The Raven Guard upgrade set is available to pre-order Now from the Forge World Webstore for release the week commencing the 24th of May.

The Orks!
Brutal alien killers who live only for war, the Orks are a savage scourge on the galaxy whose ceaseless battles with the Imperium have resulted in an endless struggle for mankind's survival in the grim darkness of the far future. The only thing more dangerous than the Orks themselves is the crude but deadly technology they wield, able to smash and rip apart their enemies with shot, shell, energy blast and hydraulic claw.

Ork Warkopta
WarcoptaDesigned by Phil Stutcinskas with crew by Mark Bedford, these intricate and more than slightly crazed flying machines are designed for one thing only; getting a mob of boyz into combat as fast as possible, with the added bonus of being able to shout insults at the footsloggers down below as they fly over their heads. The Warkopta is a full resin model and looks hugely Orkish as you can see Here, with twin chain-driven whirling blades, engines, rattler guns and lots of added detail, it even comes with a set of arms to enable you to model Games Workshop's plastic Orks clinging on for dear life!
Rules for the Ork Warkopta can be found in Imperial Armour Volume 8, Raid on Kastorel-Novem.

The Ork Warkopta is available for pre order Now from the Forge World Webstore for release the week commencing the 24th of May.
